The first OpenROV, “Bucket” has been out of service since the last dive video due to the discovery of a battery tube leak which required the replacement of the tube, and also for upgrading the bearings and other modifications listed in previous posts. The same upgrades were also made to the second.
The wiring and construction on the second OpenROV has been completed, and we’re excited to begin calibration and possibly a test dive with both of them by the end of the week! In the pictures below you can see how a “fountain of wires” becomes the 25 pin main harness
Also the new sensor modules have arrived, and we have assembled them and will be wiring them up hopefully before the test dives! The modules will allow us to see and recordĀ depth, temperature, compass heading and 3 axis 3D orientation.
